Seriously folks. It is easy. Visitors to my house too often ask, so how did you get the plants to grow? They should not be shocked that the answer is soil, water, and a seed. Of course there is more to it. Find a sunny spot near a window for starts. Plant in pots if you move often. But basically, it can be whatever you want it to be. From a simple 4 pot kitchen herb garden to a permaculture garden which can feed an entire block, the smells and wonderment of seeing plants emerge and grow will be a healthy companion.
Broke? No problem. Scrounging up enough for a couple bags of starting soil and some seeds can run as little as $10, if only a few plants are chosen. Criagslist has a remarkable section called "free". You will find not only pots to use here, but even plants others have started.

How we spend our days is how we spend our lives. I want to share some of my past experiences and current experiments in urban living. They will trickle in as I decide what to post. Some ideas are already being done by PZ people. Comment on further suggestions and we can have some great ideas for saving money, eating well, and spending our days in a meaningful way. Also, yes these are all ideas for sustainability. Which shouldn't be too far off since the Beav is calling the Captain a Hippie.
